Circle H Orchards is owned and operated by Don and Fay Hagans in Fair Oaks Ranch, Tx. Our home is located in the middle of the property where the orchard was planted. Circle H Orchards began as a result of us buying a piece of property for the house as we needed a bigger home to live in and wanted to keep our 2 boys in the same schools they had been going to. The property just happened to include a 30 year old pecan orchard. After manually harvesting our first crop in Fall 2005, we took the crop to Market Days in nearby Boerne, TX and realized there was a market for the new crop pecans by the local people. Don soon found himself wanting to know more about caring for the orchard and invested in equipment to automate the whole process from spraying, harvesting, and processing the final product to sell to consumers.
We can't build a store to sell from off of the property as we are in a city that does not allow us to do so. This prompted Don to look into other options of marketing and found that local Farmer's Markets was a great way to sell the nuts. He also realized there was a need for organizing Farmer's Markets in the Texas Hill Country where we live. All that said, we not only sell pecans, but other nuts and canned vegetables and peach products. Don organized and runs the Hill Country Farmer's Market Association which includes markets in Boerne, Leon Springs, Bulverde and Helotes. What a change, retiring from the corporate world and becoming a pecan farmer!
